Ariana Grande
Ariana Grande-Butera is a Grammy Award-winning American singer, actress, songwriter, music producer.
Ariana Grande began her professional career in show business in 2008 in the Broadway musical “13”. In 2009, she landed the role of Kat Valentine in the Nickelodeon television series Victoria’s Victorious, then went on to play her in the 2013-2014 television series Sam & Kat. Ariana has also participated in soundtrack recording and voice-overs for cartoons (notably the animated series The Winx Club). In 2015, she returned to television screens with a cameo as Sonja Herfman in the series Scream Queens.
Ariana’s musical career began in 2011 with the recording of the soundtrack for the TV series Victoria’s Victorious. That same year, she signed a record deal with Republic Records. In 2013, she released her debut album Yours Truly, which debuted at number one on the U.S. Billboard 200 chart. The song “The Way” from this album held a strong position in the top ten of the Billboard Hot 100 chart and was favorably received by music critics.
Ariana Grande’s next album, My Everything (2014), also debuted at number one on the U.S. chart. The album was a worldwide success thanks to the hits “Problem”, “Break Free”, “Bang Bang” and “Love Me Harder”. With several songs from it, the singer spent 34 weeks continuously in the top ten of the American Billboard Hot 100 chart. In 2015, she went on a world tour in support of the album, entitled The Honeymoon Tour.
In 2016, Ariana released the album Dangerous Woman (2016, #2 in the US), the music video for the single “Side To Side” from this album has over a billion views on YouTube. The following year, the singer embarked on the Dangerous Woman Tour world tour. On May 22, 2017, a terrorist attack occurred at Ariana’s concert in Manchester. Grande suspended the tour and held a charity concert to raise money for the victims of the terrorist attack.
Her next album, Sweetener, was released in 2018 and reached No. 1 in the United States. The album was recognized by the Recording Academy of America as the best pop album of 2018. A few months after the release of the Sweetener album, Ariana Grande released the album Thank U, Next (2019), which also reached number one on the U.S. Billboard 200 chart. The album repeated The Beatles’ record: three singles from Thank U, Next (“7 Rings”, “Break Up With Your Girlfriend, I’m Bored” and “Thank U, Next”) reached the top three positions on the Billboard Hot 100 chart simultaneously. Ariana Grande’s songs frequently break records on the streaming service Spotify. On March 18, 2019, the singer embarked on the Sweetener World Tour in support of her last two albums. On October 30, 2020, the singer released her sixth studio album, Positions, and set a world record for monthly listeners on Spotify (over 79 million.) The singer is also the only woman in the world to cross the threshold of over 210 million followers on Instagram.
